IMPORTANT: Be sure to review the tips below before you launch the app:

Always run the app in TRAINING MODE. (Live Mode works only in restaurants that have a specially configured WI-FI network).

• Type up to 4 digits (can be any digits) when prompted for a Server ID or Password
• The Write-On Handheld abbreviates menu items using the first letter of every word. For instance, if a menu includes Shrimp Cocktail or Filet Mignon, you simply type “SC” or “FM” to order these items.
• Print or review the step-by-step instructions below to get the hang of menu abbreviations and key functions like SEND and RETURN.
• See this Demo Menu to see some of the menu items and abbreviations that are pre-loaded into the software.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Running the Write-On LITE in Training Mode:

To start using the Write-On Handheld LITE in Training Mode, please take a moment to watch this video and then follow the instructions below.

1. Launch the app
2. Tap the “Training Mode” button
3. Type any number for “Server ID” and “Password”
4. Tap the “OK” button
5. To start an order, use the keypad to type a menu abbreviation, then tap the actual menu item when it appears in the Selection Window on the right.  For instance:
   1. Type “SA” to display “Sam Adams beer” in the Selection Window.
   2. Tap this menu item.
6. To add prep instructions, tap one of the “forced modifiers” that appear automatically in the Selection Window when certain menu items are ordered….OR tap the <MOD> button to select a modifier that is not automatically linked to the menu item.
   
   1. Type “BM” to display “Bloody Mary” in the Selection Window. 
   2. Tap this menu item.
   3. Tap “On the Rocks” when prep instructions appear in the Selection Window.
      
      …OR
   1. Type “SN” to display “Super Nachos” in the Selection Window.
   2. Tap this menu item.
   3. Tap the <MOD> button that appears just above the keyboard
   4. Type “NJ” to display “No Jalapenos” in the Selection Window.
   5. Tap this modifier.
7. To delete an item you’ve already ordered, simply swipe your finger from Right to Left across an item in the Order Detail area on the left.
   
   1. Swipe your finger from Right to Left across the Sam Adams that appears in the list on the left. 
   2. Tap <DELETE>
   3. Replace the Sam Adams with a bottle of Bud Lite by type “BL” and tapping “Bud Light Bottle” in the list on the right.
      
8. To view the entire check, including prices tap the <RETURN> button on the lower right and then tap <DONE> to return to the main order entry screen.
   
9. To route each item on the order to the appropriate prep area:
   1. Tap the <SEND> button with the airplane icon.
   2. Tap “Table 1 / Area 1’ to indicate the table where the food will be served
   3. Tap the <SEND> button again and then tap the “+” and ”-“ buttons to register the number of customers at the table.
   4. Tap the <OK> button to route the order to the prep areas.

(NOTE:  If the app was running in “Live” mode each menu item would now be printed or displayed on a KDU at the appropriate kitchen or bar stations.
